A peaceful world is possible

Privacy

What Sapientia Africa records when you read, reply or submit an article, who processes it, and why.

When you submit an article

We record your name, email, public byline and city if you give them, and your text and sources. Your email is never published: it is only used to tell you the editors’ decision. An encrypted fingerprint of your IP address is kept to limit abusive submissions; the address cannot be recovered from it.

When you reply under an article

WordPress records the name, email and IP address of each reply’s author. The name is published; the email never is.

Automated moderation assistant

Before a person reviews it, the text of each article and reply (title, standfirst, text, sources) is analysed by an automated assistant: Claude, a service of the company Anthropic. Your name, email and IP address are not sent to it. The assistant checks the text against the charter and suggests a decision to the editors.

Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use these texts to train its models, and deletes them after at most 30 days. Your text may be processed on servers outside Cameroon.

  • Articles are always published by a person.
  • Replies from a reader who already has several approved replies may be published directly when the assistant flags nothing.
  • Content that calls for violence or insurrection, incites hatred against a tribe, a group or a community, or spreads propaganda that threatens peace is removed automatically. The decision is logged, and the editors can review and reverse it.

Criticising institutions or leaders, debating peacefully, and calling for peaceful means (vote, petition, peaceful protest) remain welcome.
